Tiernan Wylie and Grear Wylie bopped to the top as the iconic siblings Sharpay and Ryan Evans at their production of High School Musical Jr.

The Numurkah Singers bopped to the top with their performances of High School Musical Jr. at the Numurkah Town Hall on Saturday, July 13.

Director Grace Hall said the performances were an incredible success.

“I was drawn to do high school musical because it is iconic and is well known for its catchy tunes and positive message,” she said.

“The cast were given two weeks to learn the material and absolutely smashed it.”

The winter school holidays gave the students an opportunity to work on the production, with rehearsals running from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday.

“The kids worked hard for the two weeks of the school holidays and when it came to performing they sure gave it their all on show day,” Numurkah Singers’ publicity officer Josh Miles said.

“A crowd of more than 250 for both shows really got everyone excited, especially our leading cast who really bopped their way to the top.”

“It was fair to say that everyone in the cast had their head in the game.”

Mr Miles said the show was chosen after Ms Hall floated the idea of directing it.

“Director Grace Hall and choreographer Megan Scott both have expressed their excitement and joy in putting on this cult classic show with an amazing cast,” he said.

“We weighed up the cost analysis, and figured out what would be needed to put the show on, and it was a raging success.”

More than 250 people attended the two scheduled shows.

“The audience loved the show and feedback from cast, audience, and production team has been (that it’s) one of the best junior shows Singers has put on to date,” Mr Miles said.

“With selling over 250 tickets over both shows, it was one of Singers’ best-selling junior productions.

“The show itself would not have been possible without the efforts of my insanely dedicated production team and crew,” Ms Hall said.

“It was genuinely just such a positive environment to work in and was such a fun experience for everyone involved.

“I am so thankful.”
