Official opening at airport

Murray River Police District Det Chief Insp Jy Brown, Mayor Peta Betts and NSW Rural Fire Service Superintendent Tony Whitehorn.

A small gathering of invited guests attended the official opening of the new Deniliquin Airport runway on Friday.

The formal ceremony was lead by Edward River Council acting CEO Mark Dalzell and Mayor Peta Betts, with Federal Senator for NSW Deborah O’Neill invited to officially open the runway.

Guests were treated to coffee and morning tea.

While the runway was operational and therefore inaccessible to inspect, some did take the time to view the displays dedicated to the No. 7 Service Flying Training School in the airport terminal. The 7SFTS operated at the airport during World War II.\
