Shepparton will have to wait a while longer for Oporto.

Originally, The News reported that Oporto was meant to open in September, after a number of job listings were posted, but so far, the store has stood empty.

In the past two weeks, the franchise has been listed for sale on Seek Business for an asking price of $545,000, listing the site on Benalla Rd as a promising opportunity.

Oporto acting chief executive Ben Simmons said in a statement that Shepparton residents would need to wait a while longer before they could enjoy the Portuguese chain’s menu.

“We are delighted to be bringing Oporto to Shepparton early next year. Until now, residents of Shepparton have had to travel considerable distances to access our fresh, fiery and flavoursome menu, with our nearest restaurants located in Wodonga and South Morang,” he said.

“We anticipate our new restaurant will create between 20 and 30 jobs, and we are actively seeking a dedicated franchise partner to join our Oporto familia and help deliver exceptional customer experiences to the community.”
