Orchard to host sustainability tech

Farmers and horticulturalists are invited to attend a demonstration field walk to get updated on technological advances in sustainable and regenerative farming such as the Hydrorock IR24 irrigation unit.

Subsurface irrigation and a range of sustainable agriculture methods will be the topic of choice at a Kyabram orchard event on Tuesday, October 22.

The Happy Orchard will play host to horticulturalists and farmers on a demonstration field walk to outline an industry and research collaboration focussed on regenerative practices, sustainability and irrigation efficiency.

The technologies are designed to enhance soil health, water efficiency and carbon sequestration and include hydromulching with stone wool fibres, cover cropping and high-performance controlled release fertiliser.

The project is funded from an overseas grant and local businesses and involves researchers from UniSA and UWA.

The field walk will be at 68 Bolitho Rd, Kyabram from 9:30am to 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 22.
