Organisers of the popular Oxley Bush Market are seeking applications from potential stallholders as it plans its return after two years of COVID cancellations.

Applications open at the end of July for the market, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 29.

North Eastern communities were left disappointed after the 41st annual bush market was unable to go ahead in 2020, or 2021.

A market spokesperson said previous stallholders would now be notified by either email or post, and new stallholders were encouraged to apply now.

“Staged at the historic Oxley Shire Hall, built in 1875, the market is timed to coincide with the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues,” the spokesperson said.

Thousands of visitors flock to Oxley for this annual market to wander among more than 160 stalls offering an incredible range of home-made, home-produced, home-grown and new items, all on sale at bargain prices.

This year, stall numbers may be limited because of any COVID restrictions.

The spokesperson said visitors to the market would be delighted by the variety of gourmet food on offer, the buskers, the rides and the sheer activity and vibrancy of the event.

“It is widely valued for the contribution it makes to many local fundraising groups, including schools, kindergartens, service clubs, fire brigades and the Royal Children’s Hospital Auxiliary,” the spokesperson said.

If you are interested in hosting a stall you can request an application form by phoning the Oxley Hall Committee on 0437 243 583, by emailing oxleyhall@gmail.com or visiting the Oxley community website at www.oxley.vic.au

Applications will close on Thursday, September 1, and successful stallholders will be notified within 14 days after that date.
