A P-plater was allegedly driving at 168km/h on the Goulburn Valley Hwy on Thursday, July 27.

Katamatite Police Leading Senior Constable Chris Westrope said he stopped the man on the Goulburn Valley Hwy just north of Tallygaroopna about 5.30pm.

The officer said the driver was travelling south in a Toyota Camry when he spotted the vehicle.

The man’s car was impounded by police.

A Shepparton man in his 20s has been charged with driving at a dangerous speed and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

He will appear in Cobram Magistrates’ Court on the charges at a later date.
