A pedestrian has died after he was allegedly hit by a car at Seymour on Friday, June 2.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Station and Wallis streets following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car just after 3pm.

The pedestrian, a man who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries, police said.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are heading to the scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

It is expected the area will be cordoned off for some time while detectives from Seymour process the scene.
