Penalised for ‘bad decision’

A man who has been fined $900 for mid-range drink driving said he made a bad decision getting behind the wheel.

Phillip Deller, 49, of Werribee, pleaded guilty by way of phone call in Moama Local Court to mid-range drink driving.

The court was told Deller returned a positive breath test of 0.091 when he was stopped by police while driving a black Mercedes SUV in Moama.

Deller, who appeared by phone call, said “it was just a bad, bad, bad decision.”

Magistrate Brian Van Zuylen said drink driving is a very serious matter.

“This is matter of community safety,” he said.

Deller was fined $900 and he was disqualified from driving for three months.

A mandatory interlock will also be placed in his car for 12 months.
