St Joseph’s Primary in Cobram will be hosting a performing arts festival on Thursday, September 1.

Sandhurst Arts on Show will involve nearly 150 Catholic school students from St Joseph’s Cobram, Sacred Heart Primary School Yarrawonga and St Joseph’s Numurkah.

The day will start off with student warm-up activities, before special workshops with the Australian School of Performing Arts.

Students will then participate in a “high-energy” main performance from 1.30pm, which will involve singing, dancing, drama and choral performance.

They have been working with Australian School of Performing Arts tutors over the past two terms in preparation for the event.

Catholic Education Sandhurst education officer for the arts Claire Spinelli said it was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their prepared repertoires.

“The partnership between CES (Catholic Education Sandhurst) Ltd schools and Australian School of the Performing Arts is well established, and provides the opportunity to expose and engage students in the choral arts,” she said.

“Since its inception in 2009, the program has expanded to incorporate Sandhurst Arts on Show.”

Sandhurst Arts on Show debuted in Echuca on Monday, August 29, before moving on to Kyabram, Shepparton and Cobram.

‘Road show extravaganza’ performances will also be coming to Bendigo, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Benalla, involving over 2000 students from Catholic schools across the Sandhurst diocese.
