The fourth bi-annual Wangaratta Historic Motor Show and Fly In is set to take off on April 23.
Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club of Wangaratta captain Jeff Nye said he was looking forward to presenting his freshly-painted 1948 Austin 16 at the event, which is the biggest display of historic vehicles in the Southern Hemisphere.
“Excitement is building amongst club members who enjoy being part of this great event,” Mr Nye said.
“This will be the fourth time our club has participated and we usually have 30 to 40 vehicles entered.
“It’s a great way for car buffs to meet up and interact, swap stories and discover interesting information about early transport options.”
Event organiser and committee chairman Richie Gardner expects the next instalment to be the biggest to date.
“We’ve already had many enquiries from people wanting to get involved by displaying their historic vehicle or flying their rare and unique plane on the day,” Mr Gardner said.
“We are creating a fun day out for families with heaps to see and do.”
The Historic Motor Show and Fly In attracts a wide variety of commercial vehicles, trucks, fire engines, ambulances, police cars, army transport, motorcycles, tractors and stationary engines from Victoria and inter-state.
The other feature of the day is a range of World War II planes, with several stunning displays of these planes in action.

The event takes place at Wangaratta airport on Sunday, April 23 from 9am to 3pm. Entry for spectators is $25 per adult and children under 15 will be admitted free.
