Driver’s fined for disobeying boom gates

Two drivers have been fined $740 recently for disobeying boom gates on Benalla-Yarrawonga Road, Benalla. Drivers, riders and pedestrians must not start to cross until the signals have stopped flashing and the gates or booms are fully open, even if you cannot see a train. It’s a rule to live by every single day—and it could save your life.

Road users are reminded to keep clear of the train tracks and not enter the crossing unless there is room for your vehicle on the other side of the tracks.

Found property

Benalla Police have had a silver Giant Mountain Bike handed in. If you believe this bicycle belongs to you, phone Benalla Police Station on 57600 200 and quote property ID 202302-E-1010. Proof of ownership required to claim.

Fire danger

With temperatures staying in the 30s for the remainder of this week it is a timely reminder that CFA declared a Fire Danger Period for the Benalla area, this Danger Period is in place until May 1. Please be aware of the restrictions and “Check What You Can And Can’t Do” at www.cfa.vic.gov.au

Car security starts at home

Don’t let driving away in your car be easy for thieves. Always remove the keys from your car and place valuables out of sight. Secure your home and car.
