Winter is well and truly upon us with foggy mornings, rain, and frosts. Please ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and you’re prepared for any trip you might take.

Snow season opening is this weekend (June 10) and if you are heading to the snow fields ensure you are well prepared. Check the requirements of your chosen ski resort before travelling.

Expect an increase in traffic this weekend as it is the Kings Birthday long weekend. Police will be out in force so please travel safe.

Public assistance:

Police are appealing for assistance in relation to a burglary and theft that occurred between June 2 and 3. A community organisation in the vicinity of Waller Street, Benalla was broken into and a vehicle was stolen. Anyone with any information that could assist police is urged to contact Benalla Police Station on 5760 0200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Incident # 230195363.

Benalla Highway Patrol

On June 3 Highway Patrol members detected a vehicle travelling at 131 km/h on Winton – Glenrowan Road near Winton, the driver received a fine.

Later the same day Police detected a vehicle travelling at 151 km/h on the Benalla – Tocumwal Rd in Yundool. The driver subsequently had their vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1625, they will receive a summons to attend Court.
