Police involved in chase of alleged car thieves

Two men allegedly ran from police after a chase that saw the tyres blown out on their allegedly stolen ute.

Police said officers attempted to intercept the allegedly stolen Isuzu ute on Riverview Dve shortly before 12.30pm on Sunday, May 21, however the driver fled.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed on McLennan St in Mooroopna, puncturing one tyre.

The vehicle was dumped on Park St, where two occupants allegedly ran from the scene, police said.

Police quickly responded and located both men, taking them in custody without issue.

A 26-year-old Moama man was charged with a string of offences including home invasion, burglary, theft of a vehicle and possessing a handgun.

He was remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 22.

A 25-year-old Shepparton man was charged with theft of a vehicle and bail offences.

He was released on bail to appear at the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on August 21.
