A 47-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly barricading herself in the old Mooroopna hospital.

Police said the woman barricaded herself inside the abandoned building in Park St, Mooroopna, on Tuesday, February 6.

Police said they went to the address with the woman in relation to a criminal damage incident at 8.30am when an officer was bitten by a dog inside the building.

They said the officer was taken to hospital with puncture wounds to their arm.

Meanwhile, the woman is alleged to have entered a room inside the building and refused to leave.

Police say the Mooroopna woman was arrested after lengthy negotiations, and the incident was resolved about 3.30pm. She is assisting police with their inquiries.

At one stage during the afternoon, around a dozen police vehicles, along with ambulance, RSPCA and park ranger personnel, were at the scene.
