A Cobram man was arrested after police tracked his vehicle with a police helicopter after he was spotted towing an allegedly stolen trailer in Melbourne.

Police said they spotted a car towing the allegedly stolen trailer on Stud and Bergins Rds in Rowville about 4pm on Sunday, March 26.

Police allege the car collided with another vehicle, then sped off through a petrol station.

With assistance from the police air wing, police followed the car and trailer through Endeavour Hills, Pakenham and Garfield.

The vehicle came to a stop on Nar Nar Goon-Longwarry Rd, where a man and woman got out and allegedly fled the scene on foot.

A 37-year-old Cobram woman was arrested at the scene, and has been released pending further inquiries.

A 41-year-old Cobram man was arrested nearby.

He has been charged with theft, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, reckless conduct endangering life/injury, disqualified driving, drug driving and driving an unregistered vehicle.

He will appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court in August.
