It is a town that many drive past without a second thought.
But Bearii, located near Strathmerton and just off the Murray Valley Hwy, could soon get an influx of visitors.
The Courier has been informed that a planning permit application has been lodged with Moira Shire Council for the use and development of land at 215 Haynes Rd, Bearii, to develop a camping and caravan park.
According to a statement by the council, the proposal covers part of the land.
The proposal seeks approval for 16 caravan sites, and public notice of the application has been given to adjoining and nearby owners and occupants.
At the time of the writing of this article, no submissions had been received, and the council hadn’t finalised an assessment of the proposal under the Moira Planning Scheme but would be considering potential on- and off-site impacts as part of that assessment.
