More than 2700 Powercor customers in Mooroopna and Kialla were left without power on the evening of January 12, after a bird struck electrical infrastructure just before 6.30pm.

Powercor crews restored electricity to most customers by 7.48pm, with nearly all services restored by 9.15pm.

The final 10 customers had their power back by noon on January 13, following additional safety checks.

According to a Powercor spokesperson, customers were kept updated on the restoration progress through the company’s website and SMS alerts.
