Hurley’s Hotel was hit hard by the power outage in Kyabram on Friday evening, with an estimated total loss of $20,000 in meal cancellations and spoilt food.
When Publican Brenton Sheppard left the hotel that evening, he thought everything was okay.
But he was shocked when he inspected the cool room the following morning and was greeted with piles of thawed or partly thawed food.
“We had a total of 280 bookings for Saturday lunch and dinner, and I had to make calls to deliver the bad news,” Mr Sheppard said.
“I would estimate there would have been around $10,000 lost in meal cancellations.”
Mr Sheppard said he was investigating whether insurance would cover his losses.
