The Wilmot Rd Primary School community hub is encouraging people to give their clothes a second life and help someone in need during its upcoming clothing drive.

Following its success in 2022, the drive has returned for its second year, and hub leader Sarah Pearson is hoping 2023 will see further donations and more people make use of the free event.

“Last year we had 76 people in the door over the few days and we’re hoping to smash that this year and get a few more people,” Ms Pearson said.

“We’ve already had fantastic support with donations, but we could always do with more.”

The hub is taking men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as blankets, providing all items are in usable condition.

“We’re only taking items that are in good condition. The rule is, if you wouldn’t wear it, probably no-one else will either,” Ms Pearson said.

The event, which will take place in mid June, is open to all.

“The whole event is free — free to donate, free to take. It’s purely just to benefit the community, and anyone who attends on the day can take as little or as much as they want,” Ms Pearson said.

“The community know that the clothes they’re donating are going to people who genuinely need them.”

The school will be taking donations until June 9.

All donations can be handed in to the Wilmot Rd Primary community hub located at 84 to 90 Wilmot Rd, Shepparton between 9am and 3:30pm.

The same hours apply to the clothing drive event, which will take place at the hub on June 15 and 16.
