Purple Day will be marked by community members with a fundraising morning tea on Thursday, March 27.

Shirley O’Bree has held Purple Day events since 2013, having been diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 10.

She underwent surgery in 2012 for the condition, which has helped her significantly, to the point where she is practically seizure-free.

Each year, Mrs O’Bree organises a fundraiser for the Epilepsy Foundation, encouraging guests to wear a touch of purple.

For the eighth iteration of the event, held one day after the official Purple Day on March 26, attendees are welcome at Moama RSL from 10am.

Tickets are $12 and cover the morning tea, which will also include a raffle and guest speaker.

Since beginning the events, Mrs O’Bree has raised $32,000.

RSVPs to the event can be made by contacting Mrs O’Bree on 0418 505 243 by the end of Monday, March 17.
