Benalla’s Ray Sellars is eager to do his part and raise funds to assist local people living with cancer.

The only issue is, Mr Sellars, who has lived in the Rose City most of his life, does not know where to start.

He has a verbal agreement from about 19 people who have agreed to take part.

And he is keen for it to be a charity walk, possibly around picturesque Lake Benalla.

However, he has no idea how to set up and arrange a charity event.

So, not only is he seeking more people to take part, he is hoping someone in Benalla can help him arrange the fundraising side.

It could be as simple as helping him set up a go fund me and Facebook page, as well as promoting it to the community.

"We really need someone who can help organise it, especially in terms of looking after the money,” Mr Sellars said.

“When I was younger we used to do lot of walks to raise money.

“We did the Frankston to Rosebud, that was actually a 35km run and it took a lot out of you.

“But we always had fun and always raised good money.

"I can’t feel comfortable sitting on my bones doing nothing.

“I hear there are people in Benalla who know how to set up this type of thing.

“And I know there are a lot of people in Benalla living with cancer, and I want to help them.

“They do a 5km, 10km, and 20km walk in Albury and that seems reasonable.

“I am happy to do 20km, but I need more people to come and walk with me,” he said.

If you are in a position to help Mr Sellars, or would like to put your hands up to take part in a charity walk, phone him on 0475 445 280.
