Redeye Ruby ready for the Big Chop

Ruby Gordon is very excited for the chop tomorrow.

Now’s the time to get your last minute donations in, because Ruby Gordon’s Big Chop 4 Kids will take place tomorrow.

The young Blighty Redeye has been growing her hair for more than two years, with measurements taken yesterday suggesting at least 50cm of hair will be donated to charity Wigs 4 Kids.

And it’s not just Ruby’s hair that has been growing.

She’s also managed to raise more than $2400 to support children with cancer thanks to the support of her friends and family.

But she wants that amount to grow further, and she will be tin rattling at the Blighty Recreation Reserve to raise as much as she can.

Casey Gordon, Ruby’s mother, thanks Sharyn McKenzie at SRM Northside Hair and Beauty, Wigs 4 Kids and the Blighty Football and Netball Club for thier support of Ruby.

The chop will take place at half-time of tomorrow’s senior football match against Yarroweyah.

It will be in conjunction with the Blighty Football and Netball Club Sponsors and Life Members’ Day.

The Sponsors and Life Members Day will run from 12.30pm until the final siren in front of the football clubrooms.

Those with a wristband will receive free food and drinks. Sponsors are asked to RSVP to Sarah on 0413 198 108 or Jodi on 0407 577 574 to claim their wristbands

If you can’t be in Blighty tomorrow, donations for Ruby’s Big Chop $ Kids are being accepted online at https://fundraise.kidswithcancer.org.au/fundraisers/rubygordon/wigs-4-kids.

Ruby's hair is more than 50cm long.
