REDHS welcomes Mary Manescu as new chief

Mary Manescu has been named as the new REDHS chief executive.

After an extensive selection process, Rochester and Elmore District Health Service has officially appointed a new chief executive.

Mary Manescu holds a Master of Health Services Management from Monash University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

She is currently the Omeo District Health chief executive and has worked extensively for the Victorian Department of Health in areas such as system performance, regulation, major capital works, contract administration and health information.

Beyond her health career, Mary is also an assessor with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and a board director of a number of not-for-profit organisations.

Ms Manescu said she was looking forward to working with the REDHS team before the hospital’s rebuild was finished.

“It will be advantageous to join the REDHS team prior to the facility being reinstated post the flood rebuild, and I look forward to meeting with and working with the staff and the board to ensure a smooth transition back to Rochester,” she said.

REDHS board chairman Christopher White thanked Darren Clark for his work as interim chief executive.

“The board thanks Darren Clark for acting as our interim CEO since early May,” he said.

“Darren has done a great job in leading the team and continuing the progression of the rebuild whilst the board recruited our new CEO.”

Ms Manescu will commence with REDHS on Monday, November 11.
