There’s a lot going on this week, but don’t worry because the Free Press has the rundown of all the exciting events happening around the area, starting with a Friday night full of fundraising.

Thursday, June 20

Afternoon Melodies with Andrew Portelli

Put on your dancing shoes and head down to the Kyvalley Hall on Thursday afternoon for a special performance from Andrew Portelli.

Mr Portelli will be bringing his extensive catalogue of melodies from the 50s and 60s with songs from legendary artists such as Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, Chuck Berry, The Beatles and more.

Also on the table for the day will be a delicious country afternoon tea provided by the ladies at the Kyvalley Swimming Club.

The concert and afternoon tea also serve as a fundraiser to keep the Kyvalley learners swimming pool operational, providing a safe spot for young swimmers to play in the water.

Friday, June 21

Big Freeze 10

Prepare to chill out at the Kyabram Big Freeze 10 event this Friday.

Taking over the Kyabram Recreation Reserve on Friday, June 21, the Kyabram Junior Bombers are back for a second year of fundraising for Fight MND.

Fight MND is an organisation dedicated to finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease – a debilitating condition that severely impairs the nervous system.

The Bombers are looking to smash last year's record and raise $15,000 for Fight MND.

With special guests, food trucks, kid’s activities, and a bit of footy on the cards, head down to the Kyabram Recreation Reserve and support the Bombers at their Big Freeze 10 event.

Shannon’s Trivia Night

Shannon’s fundraising campaign for the Kyabram Gift continues with a fun trivia night on the cards for Friday night.

Taking place at the Parkland Golf Club, Shannon is fundraising for the Kyabram Gift, a local cancer assistance organisation that aims to support cancer patients in Kyabram financially.

While tickets for this event are sold out, keep an eye out on the Kyabram Gift Facebook page for more upcoming events, and follow Shannon’s fundraising journey.

Saturday, June 22

Jigarre Jammin

Come one, come all! It's that time of the month again when musicians from across regional Victoria, of all experience levels, come together for a day of symphonic collaboration.

If you enjoy playing your violin or guitar, head down to the Girgarre Town Hall on Saturday morning for a few hours of a jam session.

The Jigarre Jammin is a group of over 70 regular musicians who come together on the fourth Saturday of each month to share their musical wisdom with each other and beginners.

Anyone is welcome, just bring yourself, an instrument, and be ready to polish your musical skills.

Nissan Nightmoves Car Rally

If you hear the rumble of engines in the middle of the night, don’t worry! The Nissan Nightmoves Trial for 2024 is zooming into town on Saturday night.

The competitive car rally, covering 160 kilometres in distance, will run on closed roads between Redcastle, Rushworth, Heathcote and One Eye forests around Heathcote.

The rally is officially called the ‘Fast Track Towing and Transport Nissan Nightmove Trials and is round four of the Victorian Car Rally Series.

The trial will be held in seven stages across the region, starting in Heathcote at 5.30pm and moving around the area from there.

Motor fans can pick up an information pack about the night at the Heathcote Showgrounds which will include spectator locations, and a proceeding of the event.
