Rochester shows how it’s done

The Great Northern Show was on again on February 23 and 24 and people came from far and wide to enjoy the two-day event.

Food, showbags, rides and 500 people made their way to the event last Friday, when the sun shone brightly and smiles were wide for the opening night.

Bendigo’s Maserati Eddy attended with Catherine McAuley College classmates Ava Stephens and Piper Evans as part of their studies.

“The three of us are in Year 9 and this is our first time being part of our school’s agricultural program,” Maserati said.

“Our school has a major focus on sheep and cattle and it sets us up with a good understanding of how we work with livestock.”

Maserati’s upbringing led to her interest in farming.

“On our property in Bendigo, we have about 15 head of cattle, which has got me interested in farming,” she said.

“This is our first time attending the Rochester show and it is an eye-opener,” Ms Freeman said.
