The Rochester Business Network is on the lookout for a location for a new EV charging station in Rochester.

And it wants the input of locals.

A proposed location for the new charging station is on Moore St opposite Rotary Park.

Rochester Business Network has released a survey to its members requesting feedback about the proposed charging station location before it is confirmed.

Bringing a charging station to Rochester would aim to increase the number of electric vehicles on the road, attract more people to the town and boost the local economy.

Rochester Business Network president Tracie Kyne highlighted the benefits of the pitched location for the charger.

“There are public toilets and security cameras, and it’s not on the main road, so there are fewer chances of car accidents,” she said.

“It’s also very close to the CBD, so people can plug their cars in, walk down the street, and spend some money at local businesses.”

Ms Kyne also outlined the benefits of bringing a charging station to the local community and businesses.

“There are more electric cars on the road now. We understand that having a charging station brings people to the town, and if they stop to charge, they’ll shop within our town and look at a lot of the artwork we have here, such as the murals,” she said.

“There’s a lot to see here, and if they stop to charge their vehicle, they can see all Rochester has to offer.

“We are very excited at the possibility of bringing a charging station to the town, not only to give people what their cars need but also to support local businesses.”
