Rochester Senior Citizens’ Club put on a show for its 58th birthday celebration on Tuesday, May 28.

Using items from the organisation’s Mackay St op shop, members of the club and op shop volunteers modelled in a fashion parade at the Rochester Senior Citizens’ Rooms.

The runway categories included ‘winter’, ‘dressed to impress’, and ‘I wouldn’t wear this again’, showcasing the diverse and unique selection of pieces available at their store.

Rochester Senior Citizens’ Club president Leeanne Fullard was delighted to celebrate the anniversary, particularly after tough years for the club and Rochester community as a whole.

“To the ladies and gentlemen who participated in our fashion parade; well done,” Mrs Fullard said.

“We’re very proud of our Rochester senior citizens, and we’re still going, even though this is our first birthday in two years.

“Now we’re 58, so good on us.”

Mrs Fullard is optimistic about the future of the group, which has recently welcomed some new members.

“We’re ready and raring to go,” she said.

“We even have new members, which is fantastic.”

A range of items were up for grabs as part of the lucky door prize and raffle draw, including handmade blankets, hampers and crockery.

Plenty of sweets and treats were on offer for the crowd too, from sausage rolls to scones, finished with a custom birthday cake.
