More than 200 enthusiasts and their cars from all corners of Australia will descend on Echuca-Moama for the biennial Rich River Rod Run.

Running as a weekend event since 1992, the Rod Run is back this year from March 18 to 20 on the Murray River.

With strong support from hot rodders and the local community, it’s one of the longest running events of its type in Victoria.

“We’re open to all vehicles pre-1978 and it’s run by a group of local blokes,” Rich River Rod and Custom Club president Daniel Arnold said.

“It’s a relaxing weekend to get away and enjoy each other’s company.”

A rod run is a weekend event for modified or customised vehicles pre-1978, but the Rich River version also welcomes restored vehicles and muscle cars.

The first two days are for entrants only, including a barbecue and live music on Friday night.

On Saturday, there will be an observation run for entrants and at night they’ll cruise the main streets of Echuca — a COVID-safe alternative to the traditional sit-down dinner.

On Sunday, everyone is welcome to the Show and Shine family day at Jack Eddy Oval, Moama.

This is the public’s chance to get up close to an array of hot rods and custom cars of all shapes, colours and sizes.

It’s sure to be a great day out for the whole family with food stalls, a live band and kids’ activities.

The event will start at 9am and award presentations will be at 1pm.

“Come along for a good weekend,” Mr Arnold said.

Tickets are $10 per person and are available on the day. For more information visit richriverrodclub.org.au
