Kyabram again puts its reputation as one of the longest running and best rodeos in the land proudly on the line on Friday night.

Preparations for the 77th staging of the town’s best known and iconic event have been under way for some weeks now and rodeo goers will witness spruced-up infrastructure as well as the non-stop rodeo action in the floodlit arena.

Long-serving Kyabram AH and P Show Society secretary Janelle McDonald said her committee was proud of the Kyabram rodeo’s status and her committee again had been working hard to uphold its lofty reputation.

The rodeo area has had a freshen up with rodeo shutes, the broadcast box and the first aid facility now boasting a coat of paint from hard working society members.

‘’There has been a lot of work put into it by our members and it’s really looking good and ready to go,’’ Janelle said.

The rodeo is again the first leg of a long weekend tri-rodeo series which also features rodeos at Merrijig on Saturday evening and Chiltern on Sunday night.

‘‘These three rodeos usually ensure all the best rough riders in Australia will be in action at Kyabram as well as the other two rodeos on the weekend, and that will be the case again on Friday night. All the best riders in the land will be here,’’ Janelle said.

And after the arena action is over the fun and the entertainment will continue on until the early hours of Saturday morning.

‘‘The Ian Archibald Band from Melbourne will be providing the entertainment after the rodeo,” she said.

“It’s a highly regarded band that is very versatile and sure to be popular.”

For the first time in two years a bar will also operate.

Gates open at 5pm and rodeo action starts at 7pm.
