The search for a man reported missing from Darlington Point last week has unfortunately ended in tragedy.
Police confirmed on Friday evening that a body had been found.
The 62 year-old man was last seen in the Darlington Point area Wednesday last week.
When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Local police conducted an extensive land and water search with assistance provided by SES, NSW Rural Fire Service, VRA Rescue NSW, and POLAIR.
The land and water search continued on Friday, until a body was located.
While the body has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man.
No further details are being released at this time, but police say initial inquiries suggest the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are not suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
