Shepparton’s Ardour Wellness will be running a free self-care day to help locals recover mentally from the floods at Excell Dance Centre.

The day will include yoga, meditation, breath work, hypnotherapy, salsa dancing, bachata dancing and stress management tools and strategies.

Organiser Monique Gibson said the day was to give people a break from the stress they were experiencing from the floods and a chance to incorporate holistic approaches to stress management.

“I work in a business which is related to stress and understand people have gone through a hard time with the floods, so this is to teach them the tools,” Ms Gibson said.

She said having been a Shepparton resident for a year, she believed it was her best way to integrate with the community.

“I only moved last year and it is the best way to help me know my fellow community, but also give back in the best way possible,” she said.

She is hoping for a large turnout.

“It could be 10 or 100, just hoping for the community to come around and enjoy the day,” she said.

Excell will be providing the food and drinks, with coffees at discount prices, and will be running raffles throughout the day.

“It is great that Excell have helped us out, I’d really like to say thanks for offering us the space,” she said.

The event will be held on Sunday, November 20 from 10am to 5pm at the Excell Dance Centre, and entry is free.
