A new clothing store looks set to open in Deniliquin, with RB Sellars recently taking to local social media pages in an attempt to recruit staff.
It came in the same week that the future of Rivers was called into question, after its parent company Mosaic Brands went into voluntarily administration.
Representatives from RB Sellars also made preliminary contact with the Pastoral Times last week, but have been unavailable to shed any more light on the plan this week.
The company is expected to set up shop in a prominent CBD location.
It has already started the search for a store manager, after which recruitment of other staff is expected to start.
RB Sellars is an Australian rural outfitter and country uniform chain, which has been operating since 1996.
A family-owned business, RB Sellars has just over a dozen stores across Australia.
Ray White Deniliquin director Hamish Thomson said it’s exciting to have such a prominent brand-name store interested in Deniliquin.
He said it will serve to further increase vibrancy in the Deniliquin CBD
“It is an extremely exciting announcement. They are a nationally well-recognised clothing brand.
“It will be the only one within 200km of us in a large geographical zone, but we’re equally excited from the broader economic viewpoint.
“People will be attracted to come to Deni, and to then also support other Deni retail outlets, clothing, cafés, pharmacies and other businesses.
“People will travel and there are equally excellent opportunities for many places around our area, bypassing Shepparton and Echuca. I hope people come out and support these businesses in Deni.”
Mr Thomson said the addition of a business like RB Sellars will increase clothing options in the town, which he says could be expanded further.
“I think there is space for one or two other clothing stores - ones that could service under-serviced segments.
“There’s a saying that more shops leads to even more shops.
“It’s a catalyst for businesses if customers stay and purchase other things.”
A lease start date, and an opening date for the new store, are yet to be announced.
