Seventy-year-old retiree Prabodh Malhotra will on Sunday, November 13 begin a walk of more than 1000km from the Melbourne Cricket Ground to the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Seymour VRI Bowls will be hosting a fundraiser and bbq with gold coin donation to welcome Dr Prabodh at 1pm on Wednesday, November 16 at the VRI Bowls Club on the corner of Anzac Ave and Goulburn St, Seymour.

He is expected to arrive at the SCG in early January to coincide with day one of Sydney’s Pink Test.

The wider community, including seniors associations at Shepparton, Wangaratta, Jindabyne and Canberra, can get involved by joining Dr Malhotra for a 5-6km walk as he reaches their towns.

Details for these short walks will be shared with anyone interested.

Dr Malhotra said everyone in his support team was excited and looking forward to turning pink and supporting the McGrath Foundation.

Community members can also support this event by cheering on the walkers, dressing up in pink and purchasing McGrath Foundation merchandise.

The McGrath Foundation raises funds to support people with breast cancer by providing specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses where they are most needed across Australia.

Ambassador and Director Tracy Bevan said the nurses provided essential physical and emotional support for free to anyone experiencing breast cancer and their families from diagnosis and throughout their treatment.

“We are proud to have funded 185 McGrath Breast Care Nurses across Australia who, together, have supported more than 110,000 families going through breast cancer,” Ms Bevan said.

“Events like this are truly helping us to make a difference; we couldn’t do it without incredible people like Prabodh.”
