It’s not too late to get training for the Mother’s Day Classic fun run on Sunday, May 14 to celebrate, honour and raise vital funds for those impacted by breast cancer.

The event may be in it’s 26th year, but 2023 will be Seymour’s first Mother’s Day Classic.

The event will be held at Lions Park and is expected to have strong community support.

Mother’s Day Classic chief executive officer Zara Lawless said there were seven locations that were joining the Mother’s Day Classic for the first time and 12 rejoining after taking a break through the disruption of the past few years.

“Over 1.5 million people have participated in the Mother’s Day Classic for breast cancer research in the past 25 years, donating $41.5 million, and each year we are building on the success of the event,” Ms Lawless said.

“By signing up for the Mother’s Day Classic you are joining a passionate, pink, and purpose-driven community united in the fight against breast cancer.”

If you’re unable to join on the day you can still participate in your own way at any place with a Mother’s Day Classic anywhere.

Participants will receive a race bib and medallion in the mail so they can create their very own unique experience and have access to the Mother’s Day Classic online fundraising dashboard and fitness tracker.

Distances and times for the Seymour event are:

  • 8.30am: 10km run;
  • 9am: 5km run;
  • 9am: 5km walk; and
  • 9.15am: 2km walk.
