Seymour Show ready to go this weekend

Ready to go: Senator Sarah Henderson and Seymour Ag Society president Jason Ronald will open the Seymour Show on Saturday.

The Agricultural and Pastoral Society of Seymour has been working tirelessly behind the scenes getting the Seymour Show back up and running — and now the time has almost arrived.

Despite the official opening being on Saturday, Friday night will be packed with bands, sideshows and pavilions, plus a magnificent fireworks display in the main arena.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm and Victorian Senator Sarah Henderson will attend the show’s official opening at noon on Saturday, October 1.

Saturday will have all the animal competitions, including horses, beef cattle, dairy cattle, alpacas, poultry, goats, championship dogs and yard dog trials.

There will be the dog high jump, tiny tots and rural and junior ambassador awards, and the great Seymour paper plane competition. There will also be a family dog fun ring.

Baking competitions, produce, plants and flowers, preserves, needlework and craft will be held in the Exhibition Building.

Victorian Government funding means children under the age of 15 will be admitted free.

The show runs from 4pm to 9pm on Friday, September 30 and from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, October 1. It is located at King’s Park, Tallarook St.

Entries to competitions can be made at seymouragshow.org.au where a schedule is also available.
