Several storm warnings were issued by the State Emergency Service for areas along the Great Dividing Range during the past week.
Despite the weather warnings, Seymour SES controller Christine Welsh said Seymour and its surrounding areas escaped the worst of the windy weather and its impacts.
The conditions were forecast to remain until Sunday August 7, at which point they were expected to ease.
“It doesn’t look too bad at this stage unless a storm comes through,” Ms Welsh said on Thursday, August 4 amid the warnings.
“However, we are prone to flash flooding in this area.”
As such she advised the community to be wary of potential flooding, should a storm, or unexpected rainfall, arise at any time.
Community members can keep and eye on emergency.vic.gov.au, or the VicEmergency App for any warning.
There were minor flood warnings for Seven Creeks and Castle Creeks in Euroa earlier in the week ending August 7.
Local SES members also attended a call-out to a fallen tree in Seymour on Kobyboyn Rd, just past the cemetery.
Ms Welsh said people could avoid potential damage, should the weather worsen, by ensuring their gutters were kept clean and objects outside a property were suitably tied down or moved inside if possible.
And, as always, never attempt to walk or drive through flood waters.
