Campaspe Shire Council has released its draft Economic Development and Tourism Strategy 2024 to 2029 for public feedback.

The draft strategy includes submissions from the community, and Mayor Cr Rob Amos is pleased with the many contributions.

“Council has cast the net far and wide seeking input from the community and industries in a range of ways and have had over 500 submissions which have informed this strategy,” he said.

“It has been great to see so many voices articulate their views to help shape the shire’s economic development and tourism future.”

The strategy unpacks the factors that contribute to the Campaspe economy, including the biggest industries and a profile of tourists.

Some of the tourism projects in the draft strategy include the Port of Echuca Precinct Plan, Cross Border Collaboration, Tracks and Trails Development, Connecting the Region Through Arts, and Major Event Attraction.

The recently adopted 2024/25 budget has committed $150,000 to projects in the strategy.

Council has the draft strategy open for feedback until 5pm on Wednesday, June 26.

“This is a comprehensive culmination of over a year’s worth of consultation and engagement, so we want to ensure the loop is closed, and provide a final opportunity for community to have their say before the strategy is finalised,” Cr Amos said.
