Shepparton’s Anaconda store is again getting behind the annual Heat the Homeless appeal to keep vulnerable people warm this winter.

The appeal is led by Australian snow and outdoor brand XTM Performance and urges community members to donate their quality, pre-loved waterproof jackets to help warm those in need.

Shepparton Anaconda is one of more than 70 stores collecting donations for the appeal nationwide.

“If people aren’t wanting their jackets anymore, if they’re out of date, too small or too big, rather than going in the bin it can go to someone who needs it,” store team leader Holly Hamilton said.

The jackets are collected monthly during winter by XTM, which then distributes them.

Staff member Bron Mustica said it was an “amazing feeling” to be involved with the appeal.

“There’s a lot of homeless people out there that need some warmth; it’s really nice to be involved in,” she said.

Jackets are required to be in a clean and good condition to be donated and it’s preferred they are waterproof and warm.

The Shepparton Anaconda store is located at 115 Benalla Rd. For information about the appeal visit xtm.com.au/pages/heat-the-homeless
