The Shepparton Club is holding a charity raffle to raise funds for two locals set to travel to France for a fitness competition.
Last year, the Hyrox Fitness Challenge came to Australia for the first time.
Mel Hinchcliffe found out about it through her gym, and got her friend Emma O’Keeffe to sign up with her to compete in the 40- to 49-year-old doubles category.
The challenge consisted of eight sets of exercises alternating with eight sets of 1km runs.
Much to their surprise, they came second out of 68 pairs and qualified for the 2024 Hyrox Fitness Challenge set to be held in June in Nice, France.
Mel has been an employee of the Shepparton Club for more than two decades.
So, the club is helping to support Mel and Emma by raising funds through a charity raffle at the Shepparton Club, 455 Wyndham St, Shepparton, on Friday, March 15 at 7pm.
Tickets will be on sale from 6pm at the club, and prizes include:
• $200 Harbour Lane voucher.
• $50 meat vouchers.
• $50 club vouchers.
• $50 Easter egg hampers.
• Mooroopna Golf Club driving range and green fee vouchers.
• $50 Shepparton Access Eco packs.
If you’re unable to attend but still want to support the women, you can purchase online raffle tickets from the Shepparton Club Facebook page or here: Shepparton Club Monthly Charity Raffle — Pub and Club Co.
All money raised from the raffle will go towards Mel and Emma’s travel, accommodation and uniforms as they represent Australia in the international fitness competition.
