There’ll be something for everyone at this year’s annual Shepparton Festival, which returns to the region from March 17 to April 2.

Community members will find art, sculpture, dance, writing, music and multicultural events to celebrate Greater Shepparton’s creativity.

To commemorate the 27th year of the festival, event organisers promise a different experience, with unique events in unusual places.

Interactive light and sound installations, theatre, comedy and large-scale collaborative works are just some of the creations attendees can look forward to.

If nature is of interest, there will be a special outdoor venue hosting an ethereal bird-walking tour twice daily for the Dawn/Dusk Chorus, and local artist Rachel Doller is responsible for the art installation Foliage and Rocks, an exhibition of second-hand textiles and threads at Wildlife Brewery.

Transverse Orientation, an interactive light installation, will invite four participants and 10 observers at a time into a vivid, interactive projection-mapped space, where a light field is projected around each participant to represent a pool of water with luminescent life.

Newly appointed festival director Kristen Retallick is looking forward to bringing the community together once again to experience a newly vibrant feast of creativity.

“Shepparton Festival 2023 is full to the brim with quality arts experiences, with a huge collaborative effort happening behind the scenes to bring it together,” Ms Retallick said.

“It’s an opportunity for our local creatives to be nurtured and guided by each other, as well as by some from outside our region.

“Our town is truly on the national art map and this year we have an exclusive opportunity to be the only Victorian host of an international dance performance, which we are thrilled about.”

Shepparton Festival tickets will be available in February.
