Greater Shepparton’s Nepalese community has rallied to donate nearly $4500 to Shepparton FoodShare to help with the October floods response.

Meena Malla organised the fundraising campaign among the Nepalese network and said she tried to help during the floods wherever she could.

“While volunteering since the flood started, I anticipated that our local community would be desperately seeking our physical, moral and financial support,” she said.

“It was heartening to receive such kind support from Nepalese people towards the people of the Goulburn Valley region.”

Ms Malla handed the cheque to Shepparton FoodShare chair Jeremy Rensford on Friday, November 4, in front of community leaders and representatives.

She said the community effort during the floods had been “remarkable”.

“I have seen how the entire community has been able to mobilise to help those in need, to each other,” she said.
