A house was damaged in a fire on Tuesday, August 22.

Firefighters and police were called to the house on Batman Ave about 5.30pm.

A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said three FRV trucks and a CFA unit attended the blaze, with the house well alight when firefighters arrived.

The blaze started in a front room of the house and spread into the roof, the spokesperson said.

It took firefighters until 6.45pm before the fire was deemed under control.

Police said the house was unoccupied at the time, and no-one was injured during the incident.

At 7pm on Tuesday, firefighters had left the scene but police remained and the road was blocked off between Wills St and Burke St.

The fire was initially treated as suspicious, but police said on Wednesday afternoon it was no longer being treated as such.

An FRV fire investigation team arrived at the house about 9am Wednesday to investigate the scene and determine the cause.
