Shepparton man stabbed in Melbourne shopping centre fight, police claim

A Shepparton man was allegedly stabbed during an altercation between two groups at a Melbourne shopping centre at the weekend.

Emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing in a shopping centre on Doncaster Rd at Doncaster about 6.45pm on Saturday, September 9.

Police said the 21-year-old Shepparton man was one of two men stabbed.

The Shepparton man and a 21-year-old Eltham man were taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

A hospital spokesperson said both men were discharged from hospital on Sunday, September 10.

Police arrested two men and a teenager on Saturday night in Roseville Ave, Doncaster.

A 19-year-old Knoxfield man was charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, possessing a controlled weapon, theft and affray.

He was bailed to Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on March 8.

A 17-year-old Mill Park youth was charged with intentionally causing injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, affray, possessing cannabis and possessing a controlled weapon.

He was bailed to appear in a children’s court at a later date.

An 18-year-old Narre Warren man was charged with affray, theft and bail offences.

He was bailed to Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on March 8.

Police said it was believed the parties were not known to each other.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were yet to be established, and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
