State Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe is urging local residents to participate in the Legislative Assembly Economy and Infrastructure Committee’s inquiry into the impact of road safety behaviour on vulnerable road users.

The inquiry will examine the changes in road user behaviour during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on road safety for people at risk such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycle riders.

“Last year alone, 241 Victorians lost their lives on our roads, and thousands more were injured,” Ms O’Keeffe, who is also the deputy chair of the committee, said.

Public submissions for the inquiry are open until May 19, and the committee plans to hold public hearings later this year.

The committee will report its findings to parliament in March 2024.
