Is the way to a man’s – and woman’s – heart really through their stomach?

The Soroptimist International of Shepparton believes so as they prepare for another successful Valentine’s Day luncheon.

On Sunday, February 11, The Woolshed at Emerald Bank in Kialla will be transformed into a soiree setting for Cupid to draw his bow, complete with a two-course luncheon.

The event’s emcee is Terry Cowley, with guest speakers Emma Cannon, a trustee for GV Health Foundation, and Nadine Holgate, who will talk about acquired brain injuries.

Raffle prizes are varied, but the grand prize is a one-night stay for two at Mitchelton Hotel, including dinner, a bottle of wine, and breakfast.

To sweeten the deal further, the group’s publicity officer, Jill Pinner, said all proceeds from the event would go to the GV Health Foundation.

“We’ve been given the task by GV Health Foundation to raise $5000, which provides a scholarship for a nursing student to do their post-graduate study in the area,” she said.

“It’s to encourage the successful nurse to stay in the area and contribute to the Shepparton community as a highly qualified employee.”

Despite being a ladies’ group, Ms Pinner assured this Soroptimist event was not ladies-only.

“We can cater for 180 people – men, women, it doesn’t matter,” she said.

“It’s a social outing – men can treat their wives, daughters can treat their mothers – and it’s sure to be a lovely afternoon.”

Soroptimist International of Shepparton’s Valentine’s Light Lunch is on Sunday, February 11, from noon to 3pm at The Woolshed at Emerald Bank, 7719 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla.

Tickets can be reserved individually or for a table of 10 people for $60 per person.
