Shepparton woman charged over allegedly setting another woman on fire

A Shepparton woman has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Shepparton earlier this month.

The charges follow an incident in Middlesex Cres on Tuesday January 15, where it will be alleged a woman threw a flammable substance over another woman and ignited it.

A 20-year-old Shepparton woman was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne with critical injuries, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 33-year-old Shepparton woman was also flown to hospital where she remained under police guard.

Police believe the pair were known to each other.

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad on Tuesday, January 30, today charged the 33-year-old Shepparton woman with attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence and intentionally causing serious injury.

She will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 31.
