Outstanding Victorian women who have contributed significantly to the community have been included in the 2023 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

Victorian Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins congratulated the 22 new inductees at a ceremony on Wednesday, October 11, at the Arts Centre in Melbourne.

“Every year, the Victorian Honour Roll of Women is helping ensure that we see and hear more about the women who have made significant, lasting contributions to the community, state or country,” she said.

“I’d like to congratulate this year’s inductees for their incredible commitment and dedication to improving the lives of others and especially for paving the way for more women to achieve great things.”

Started by former Victorian premier Joan Kirner in 2001, the honour roll celebrates and recognises women demonstrating leadership and excellence.

This year’s inductees are trailblazing women leading in traditionally male-dominated industries. They are local champions working to support vulnerable communities and women who are bringing important changes in their fields.

Among this year’s inductees is Shepparton local Betul Tuna.

Commended for her work with the non-profit Point of Difference Studio she co-founded, and as the senior project officer for the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District, Ms Tuna was inducted into the Local Champion category.

“It was a bit overwhelming,” she said.

“I appreciate the award, but it needs to be recognised that it’s so much more than me.”

Point of Difference Studio helps marginalised groups in regional Victoria through education, arts, research and consultation.

More than 700 women across Victoria have been recognised since the honour roll began.
