In a heart-warming display of community support, Shepparton’s Central Tyre Service has provided local Azem Elmaz with free tyres for his ‘People Supporting People’ kitchen truck.

“It’s not about us,” Central Tyre Service co-director Tim Webb said.

“It’s for what he does for our community.

“His community mindset and tireless efforts to support the underprivileged, homeless and emergency services during crises are just incredible.

“Azem’s daily acts of kindness are an inspiration to us all.”

Mr Elmaz, known for his iconic truck that serves food on Saturdays outside Kmart in Shepparton and provides support during times of disaster, expressed his gratitude for the free tyre service.

When he approached Central Tyre Service with a punctured tyre, the team not only fixed it promptly but also refused any payment.

“I brought my truck to them, and the next day, I picked it up with six new tyres and a new spare tyre,” Mr Elmaz said.

“They (Central Tyre Service) have been good to me from day one.

“They’ve done all my new tyres — free of charge.”

Filled with pride and happiness, Mr Elmaz spoke fondly of the people in Shepparton.

“There are beautiful people in this town, I’m very proud,” he said.

“Whenever we need help, they’re there.

“The bloody Aussies are bloody good!”
