Friday, March 1 saw a small but intimate mass being held at the Cobram Uniting Church to celebrate World Day of Prayer.

The 2024 service was being prepared by Women for Palestine, which is an ecumenical (meaning made up of different denominations) Christian group. The theme of the mass was ‘peace in the Holy Land’.

The mass involved a special speech by guest speaker Gail Parkinson who told the congregation of her recent trip to Palestine.

Cobram’s Reverend Victor Adams who attended the event said it was more important than ever to pray for peace.

“Especially right now today with a war going on in Palestine and the people trapped in Gaza, and the West Bank, we’re all gathered today to pray for the people of Palestine which is much needed,” he said.
