Actress, model, radio and television personality Sam Frost slipped into Rochester almost undetected earlier this month to film an episode of a popular Channel 7 travel show.
Frost, who is now 34 and a new mum, was hardly looking for attention and was described by Rochester Business Network president Glenda Nichol as “a normal young mum’’.
“She was wearing jeans, a jumper and work boots, while pushing her four-month-old son in a pram. She didn’t even have make-up on,” Mrs Nichol told the Rochester Community Chat breakfast during her RBN update last week.
Mrs Nichol, who will appear on the show talking about her beloved Rochester, said the understated presentation of the usually glamorous blonde changed the minute the cameras started rolling.
“She went straight into character, it was amazing. I’m a little scared about what will go to air, because we had to act as if we had just bumped into each other in the street,” Mrs Nichol said, questioning her own acting ability.
My Road to Adventure is the name of the program and the Rochester episode will be one of the half-hour shows featured in the second half of this year. It is produced by Cameron Damon Media and is Australia’s newest lifestyle and travel show.
The show features Australian celebrities from various walks of life taking time away from their busy schedules to go on holidays with their families to iconic Australian locations.
Each episode explores different lifestyles in a relaxed and carefree environment, with the celebrities all staying in caravan parks, using a Jayco caravan, motorhome or camper trailer as their home base.
Whether it’s travelling back to their roots in their hometown, revisiting childhood memories or discovering somewhere completely new, the show highlights unique and personal adventures throughout the series.
“They have told us it will go to air in December,” Mrs Nichol said.
Frost appeared on the show in its first season while holidaying in Hervey Bay and then again with her sister Kris Ross, travelling in a motor home along the Great Ocean Road.
The pair are now heavily involved in a mental health charity named Believe by Sam Frost, inspired by her mother’s battle with depression while she was a single mother bringing up six children.
The sisters host workshops with teenage girls to promote body image and self-confidence.
Frost, along with controversial former football figure and modern day “shock jock’’ Brendan Fevola, Geelong AFL captain Patrick Dangerfield, former Richmond star Matthew Richardson and over-the-top Channel 7 commentator Brian Taylor have also been the subject of attention.
Frost was accompanied by her reality TV star husband Jordie Hansen, who was the self-proclaimed “joker’’ from Australian Survivor.
Frost also got her start in reality TV when she won season two of The Bachelor, receiving the final rose, ahead of 29 other contestants, from heartthrob Blake Garvey.
A proposal was followed shortly after by a statement from Network 10 saying the engagement had been called off. Garvey had ended the relationship days before the finale aired, which blindsided Frost. The bachelor later entered a relationship with the second place-getter.
Frost went on to star in The Bachelorette, then later worked with Rove McManus on radio before becoming involved with Home and Away and Hell’s Kitchen.
She left her Home and Away role as Jasmine Delaney in December 2021 after four years.
Frost has posted some behind-the-scenes pictures of her Rochester adventure to social media.
Mrs Nichol and Rochester Mural Festival committee member Wayne Park acted as hosts to Frost, meeting in Iddles Lane and at the mural stands for the purpose of explaining what Rochester had to offer.
“They originally asked to go on a tour around town, but were running late and the plans changed. They were coming at noon. They turned up at 4pm,” Mrs Nichol said.
Frost and Hansen were on Sunrise with son Ted talking about Echuca last week and promoting the upcoming My Road to Adventure series.
